Truth Interview Thursday Spotlight - GOforWanksta

Welcome to our Clan Truth Community Spotlight! This week, we are sitting down with the Baron of the Bounties, GOforWanksta! Let’s jump right in shall we?

CT: Hey Wanksta, welcome to TITS. We’re all excited to have you here today. Let’s start out with an easy question. What do you do for work?

I’m a Business Systems Analyst in IT. I basically document what the business partners want in the software and communicate those requirements to the development team and act as liaison between them. In an average day, since I work from home, I probably am gaming more than I actually work in a day. Shhhh.

CT: Aside from videogames, what hobbies or pastimes do you enjoy?

I follow all the major sports a fair amount. I like to attend them when I can. I also play in a darts league.

CT: What is a skill you have that you take pride in?

In my usual gaming group, I have a tendency to take random comments and start singing a clip of a song that uses that line or something similar. I'm essentially the group's jukebox. Sometimes they like it, sometimes not so much haha. (We have that in common. Pretty sure several of my regular people have me on mute by now)

CT: Any fun facts about yourself?

In high school, I got thrown out of a rolling pickup and ended up with 27 staples in the back of my head and 12 stitches in my chin, went home the next morning. (Fucking ouch. Got any pics?)

CT: How long have you been playing video games and what are some of your earliest and/or favorite video game memories?

I remember playing some Pitfall and Pong on an Atari when I was like 4. Then we eventually got an NES and it was on to Mario and Duck Hunt. (Kids today don’t know true frustration like being laughed at by an 8-bit dog amiright?)

CT: What are your favorite foods, music, movies, shows, etc.?

Tacos, alternative rock, 2000s hip-hop.

CT: Is there any special story or significance behind your gamertag?

Back in college, shortly after 50 Cent’s song “Wanksta” came out, my college buddies thought it was just weird that a white kid from the middle of the country listened to rap and hip-hop. They joked Wanksta and the name just stuck and I eventually built my gamertag from there.

CT: Let’s talk a bit about Destiny and Clan Truth specifically. When did you first start playing Destiny, and can you tell us about what drew you to the game?

Been playing since day 1 Destiny 1. My group of friends all started together back then.

CT: Based on the bounty grinding, I’m pretty confident that you play all three classes quite a bit, but which one would you say is your favorite?

I’m primarily a Titan but I do play all 3 classes. I’ve just always felt safest and most comfortable with the Titan jump.

CT: If you could remove any one weapon from the game, which one and why?

Now that other Stasis weapons exist, I see zero reason for Salvation’s Grip to exist anymore for any player that has fully unlocked Stasis. (I mean, it’s pretty good for killing random blueberries. Not that I’ve ever done that of course.)

CT: Thank you Wanksta, that covers the standard questions, now let’s really get to know you a bit better. First, why is your name grey? Couldn’t decide which clan you like best?

I was originally in Corrupted. Then its activity seemed to become stagnant there for a while and I jumped to Shattered when it formed. Eventually the group I played with moved on from the Truth clan and we just formed our own thing.

CT: You grind a lot of levels every season. Is there a reason why? How did it start? How long do you think you’ll keep up the grind?

No real reason I guess. It’s just something to do I guess. I often joke that if I don’t touch bounties during dead times of the game, I just won’t play the game at all.

CT: Speaking of grinding, what is your favorite form of dancing?

CT: What is your most treasured/favorite thing you own (doesn’t have to be related to gaming)?

I have a bunch of St. Louis Blues signed memorabilia, but I especially enjoy the pieces I have from the 2017 Winter Classic.

Wanksta, thank you so much for your time! It was great learning more about you!

That concludes this installment of the Truth Interview Thursday Spotlight!
